General Foreman Jobs in Houston Texas Full Time

Are you an experienced construction leader with a strong background in substation and electrical projects? We’re looking for a motivated Substation Foreman to take charge of field operations and lead crews on critical infrastructure projects across Houston and beyond. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be at the heart of ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery in one of the most essential sectors of construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead & Direct Teams: Supervise and motivate skilled craft employees to deliver projects safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Blueprint & Spec Interpretation: Review, interpret, and communicate construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Site Safety Leadership: Enforce safety standards, conduct training, and champion a zero-incident culture on-site.
  • Operational Oversight: Plan, schedule, and assign work to maximize crew productivity and equipment utilization.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and submit timesheets, safety reports, quality/quantity updates, and other required documentation.
  • Collaboration: Act as a key support to Project Superintendents and Project Managers, ensuring smooth communication between stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Quickly assess challenges in the field and provide effective, safe, and efficient solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in substation, electrical, or industrial construction with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of job site safety, OSHA regulations, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating crews in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 75% of the time).
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • This role is field-based and requires the ability to work in demanding environments:
  • Physical activities: climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting, and prolonged standing/walking.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions, high noise, vibration, and variable site conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate uneven terrain, ladders, multi-floor structures, and confined spaces.
