Senior Project Manager Traffic/Transportation Engineering Jobs in Chicago Illinois Full Time

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage multiple traffic and transportation projects, including planning, permitting, traffic impact analyses, parking studies, and signal/roadway design.
  • Develop, review, and deliver project scopes, schedules, budgets, progress reports, proposals, and billing documentation.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering professional growth and excellence in project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, contractors, public agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Participate in business development activities, expanding existing accounts and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Represent the firm in public forums, providing expert testimony and engaging stakeholders.
  • Stay current with state and local permitting requirements and transportation regulations.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; advanced degree in Traffic/Transportation is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 10+ years of experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
  • Deep understanding of traffic impact studies, signal warrants, parking and driveway design, and state DOT permitting protocols.
  • Strong project management and client relationship skills.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with public speaking experience desirable.
  • Proven ability to coach, lead, and inspire project teams.
  • Ability to travel locally for site visits and client meetings.
